Back in 2003 Steve had talked about restoring a convertible muscle car. His friend from Canada called to tell him about a Chevelle convertible that he had seen in a barn in Canada. We took a ride to see it and he decided it would be a project to test his skills. His friend's name is Russ who goes by the nickname of Rusty so became the nick name of the Chevelle "Rusty" and maybe because it had a little bit of rust.
The car was just a shell and the person he bought it from said he had all the pieces and parts in boxes. After 2 trips to Canada to get the shell and parts and pieces, he found out that one persons idea of "all" is different than another's. The hunt started for several items that were needed. Steve spent just over 4 years bringing the Chevelle back to show quality with a frame off rotisserie restoration.
The car's debut was the summer of 2008 and many club members threatened to name the car "Rain Maker" as just about every time the car came out for a show, cruise night or parade so did the clouds.
The Chevelle had the honor of participating in a celebration at the Tonawanda Power Plant. General Motors was celebrating 100 Years of GM vehicles and were trying to have a representation of cars from 1908 - 2008 and Steve was asked to participate with his Chevelle representing the year 1969.
