I wanted a convertible 442 and my wife Marcelle liked the 68 body style so the search was on. I found this car in Florida and it seemed like a good choice. The car was shipped here in August of 2005 and I drove it a couple of months before starting the restoration. It seemed pretty solid but had a frame off a long time ago and had been driven a lot. I wanted a driver so was not too concerned about this and began to take the car apart for a frame off restoration.During the process I found many small issues that needed to be corrected like replacing the left/front floor section and all the body braces. The floor had patches put in at different times that were brazed in and still in very good shape. I removed the a/c and patched the firewall where needed. The color combo was a difficult choice and after a long search settled on a Dupont Hot Hues color called Blue Mood. The interior is a stock Metallic Parchment with black accents and 69 bucket seats. ![]() I went with a 455" BBO .030 over with a used rotating assembly. It has a small hydraulic cam, aluminum offenhauser 04 B intake, Holley carb and a fresh set of "C" iron heads, turbo 400 trans and 12 bolt "0" type 3.08 posi rear end. ![]() The last piece I got for the car was a vanity plate 442CRAZY which is fitting. ![]()
I plan on driving the car a lot in the upcoming year 2009 and plan on having lots of fun. ![]() |
