My 70 Cutlass Race Car

I was interested in drag racing and wanted a faster car. I had tried to build a fast street car but it was not the results I wanted. I was not able to cut up the car for racing only so around 2000-2001 I borrowed a car from a good friend Bill Trovato. It was a 70 Cutlass that was race ready but he did not want to sell at that time. He let me put my engine in it and race it. I quickly ruined the first motor in and was only going 11.70's which I wanted to improve on. In the mean time I still tried buying the car from Bill without any luck.

Bill built a fresh motor for the car. It was a 470" BBO and this got the car into the 10.70's in the ¼ mile which was more in line with what I wanted. I got the car into the 10.50's through some trial and error but still wanted to go faster and get this car in the 9's (on motor). We got some new aluminum heads and added a little more compression. This got it in the 10,20's @131 M.P.H. and I finally was able to buy the car from Bill (with the stipulation he has first shot to buy it if I ever sell it). The engine has gone through a freshening up with the addition of a solid roller cam. I did not get the car out this past season but hope to graze the 9's in the spring of 09.
