The car was purchased after finding it on Craigs list. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I started finding more and more problems with it. Mainly overheating the 350 chevy engine. Took the car off the road in September to start working on the problems and to paint the car. Got the car all apart and pulled the engine. While having the engine out it was decided to go ahead and tearout the frontend and install a "Mustang II" frontend with disc brakes which lowered the frontend and got the front wheels tucked back under the fenders. ![]() The body of the car was in pretty good shape so there wasn't a whole lot of bodywork to be done. The car is painted with Corvette orange on top and a custom gold on the bottom. The engine had a cracked block so the engine and transmission have been replaced with a 350 Chevy small block bored .030 over with a mild cam, Block Hugger headers, Edlebrock Aluminum Intake-powdercoated, Holley 650 carb and "HEI" ignition. I had the valve covers and Air cleaner powder coated by Tony Annis. ![]() I put in a TH350 transmission with a Lokar Hot Rod 16" floor shifter. .355 Posi rearend. |
I've been working on the interior over the winter. Installed a new "IDIDIT" steering column with a Grant wheel and a new custom oak dash with Stewart Warner gauges. ![]() Of course I had to continue the translucent orange inside the car so we coated the gauge faceplate, shift knob, door and window handles, along with the small knobs on the steering column and center cap. With the help from Phil Ferrera with the wiring, I was able to get the interior done. We decided to continue with the oak theme inside so I made an oak faceplate for the console which houses the stereo, indicator lights and switches. Oh and we had to make the drink holders large enough to hold our Koozies. We then went with oak panels for the door panels. everything is stained and varnished. The headliner came out pretty good along with the panels behind the seats. ![]()
The trunk area we are keeping fairly simple with just vinyl panels, with access to the remote battery and speakers.
I plan on showing the car and just having fun with it.
